Despite torrential overnight rain and a less than optimistic forecast, Pocklington CC's new covers had a successful first full outing by ensuring a game was played on Saturday at the Burnby Lane ground.

The new covers and groundsheets secured as part of the club's successful ECB Small Grants application paid dividends, with 80 overs cricket able to be played. Grateful Club Treasurer Simon Baty said ''The new covers and side sheets got the first team game on yesterday thanks to the ECB grant plus a bit of hard work from team and club members.''

In April this year Pocklington CC received an ECB grant of £4k towards the purchase of the new Covers and Flat sheets, as supplied by Durant Cricket.
