North Marine Road to Headingley....
....on two wheels.
Ten intrepid cyclists undulated their way through North, East and West Yorkshire on a charity bike ride on Friday to raise money for Disability Cricket in the County. Leaving North Marine Road cricket ground early in glorious sunshine, the magnificent ten battled their way uphill and down dale on a 100 mile adventure taking in the Wolds, the Vale of York and the metropolis of Leeds.
The happy cyclists included YCB employees Charlie Roebuck (pictured extolling the virtues of a rest break!)Rachel Hildreth, Lee Abbott and Jane Hildreth (Board member),with Alex Jervis from the Yorkshire Disability Cricket Team also completing the challenge. After well deserved breaks in Malton and Green Hammerton, the team cycled triumphantly into Headingly Stadium shortly before Yorkshire's final T20 home fixture against the Birmingham Bears.
Over £2,000 has been raised to date, with further donations welcomed via JUST GIVING.
Co-ordinator Charlie Roebuck said ''The weather was kind to us and it was pleasing that we were all able to complete the ride despite our differing levels of cycling experience. The money we raise will be used to support the development of disability cricket within Yorkshire, helping us to develop participation levels within the sport.''
''I'd like to thank all who participated in and help support the event, including Howzat Cricket who supplied our team wear. 100 miles on a bike is a long way!''
