York progress to wider stages.
York CC (127-6) beat Barnsley Woolley Miners CC (71-10) at Hopton Mills CC
On Sunday 30th June 2019, the Yorkshire Final of the U-13 Competition was kindly hosted once more by Hopton Mills CC. The scorching conditions, which spectators faced at the Pakistan vs Afghanistan World Cup game on the previous day, had subsided to that of a normal summer’s day - much to the relief of all concerned. With no threat of rain, the final was a 20 overs a side game.
York CC made a good start with their first pair of batsmen having to retire upon reaching/passing 30. Thereafter, Barnsley Woolley Miners CC came back into the match, picking up six wickets (some created by outstanding catches) before the York CC innings closed on 127-6.
Barnsley Woolley Miners CC also started well, but the loss of two clusters of three wickets ultimately undermined their ability to reach the York CC score. Eventually they were bowled out for 71.
