Match reports.
Yorkshire U12 Dev 148-7 (Will Bennison 53, Harvey Laverack 53) beat U12 Regional Cricket XI 86-11 (Will Bennison 3-21, Jamie Redgewick 3-27) by 62 runs.
After a hard fought victory over Northumberland U13s, the next hurdle for the U12 Development team was a combined Best of Regional XI, a selection of players from the four regions, who would be out to prove a point. The Regional team elected to field upon winning the toss and had Yorkshire in trouble at 6-3, with Matthew Stewart taking all three and finishing with match figures of 3 for 25, with two catches for Finn Brookes. A 98-run partnership between Will Bennison and Harvey Laverack followed, Oliver Booth then bowled Bennison for 53 which included six boundary fours. The score advanced to 125 before Laverack was dismissed for 53. Joseph Hall (15) and the lower order increased the tempo and took the score to 148 for 7, despite 3-16 for Monty Dodsworth, that included a smart stumping by Sam McBride.
The Regional reply never got going against the pace of Jay Singh (1-2 off 5 overs) and the swing and accuracy of Bobby McFarlane (1-8). 11-2 became 11-3 as Jamie Redgwick claimed the first of his three wickets (3-27). Bennison then joined the attack with his leg spin and finished with 3-21. Three run outs did not help as they slumped to 62-8. Some lusty blows by Adam Watson and Monty Dodsworth helped to push the score to 86 all out - a valiant effort but the County boys took the honours.

Yorkshire U12 Dev 89-3 (Will Bennison 45*) beat Durham U12s 88 all out by 7 wickets.
ββOn a fine sunny day, Yorkshire U12 Development entertained Durham U12s at Barton in North Yorkshire. Upon winning the toss, Yorkshire invited Durham to bat. Durham lost their first wicket with the score on three as Bobby McFarlane bowled the Durham skipper for 0. Jay Singh continued to pile on the pressure as he claimed a wicket and finished his spell of 5 overs with 1-7 to leave Durham at 17-2 . Will Bennison joined the attack and bowled 6 overs of leg spin at 3.5 RPO and claimed one wicket. Two wickets for Seth Pickering (2-5) and a miserly spell of off-spin by Jamie Redgwick (2-5) followed. With Durham in trouble at 85 for 7, the situation did not improve as they lost their last three wickets for just three runs to finish 88 all out, after a wicket each for Mohammed Abbass and Harvey Laverack and a run out.
Mohammed Abbass opened the batting with Will Bennison and was forced to temporally retire. But Bennison took a leading role in a stand of 52 with Bradley Sylvester who was eventually adjudged LBW for 8. Abbass returned to the crease but perished a few overs later as he was run out with the score on 57. Robbie Murray scored 12 before he was bowled as the winning total came within reach, Bennison finished on 45 not out as a total of 10 wides and four no balls saw Yorkshire triumph by seven wickets. It had not been easy, as it took 34 overs to get over the line - the early order bowlers keeping it tight and making the batters work hard.
Next up is the old enemy Lancashire at Skipton CC.
