Yorkshire U13 Girls overcame both Nottinghamshire and Warwickshire in T20 Double Headers as well taking part in an excellent Super 2s Event before facing off with with some boys YJCF sides.
Yorkshire U13 Girls vs Nottinghamshire U13 Girls, held at Wellbeck CC on Tuesday 29th May.
Yorkshire won the toss and decided to bat first, reaching 117-5 off 20 overs, thanks largely to a partnership of 43 between Ellie Nightingale (22*) & Mollie Ovenden (19*) in the last six overs. In the middle overs, Eva Jenkins (20) struck the ball well and batted positively. In reply, Nottinghamshire fell short on 104-8 off their 20 overs, with Yorkshire's two spinners Frances Lonsdale (5-17) and Gemma Walker (2-17) spinning their way through the Nottinghamshire batters.

In the second game, Nottinghamshire batted first and scored 104-8 off their 20 overs. The pick of the Yorkshire bowlers were Annie Brown (2-12), Holly Cooper (1-7) and Poppy Moss (1-6). The girls fielded magnificently and managed to pick up three catches and also three run outs inside 20 overs. In response, Yorkshire chased down the total after 13.3 overs, for the loss of four, with some dominant batting from Katie Ramsden (23), Poppy Moss (21) and Gemma Walker (13*). A fantastic start to the 2018 campaign!

Super 2s, held at Pocklington School on Friday 1st June.
Yorkshire U13 Girls took part in a Super 2s Event at Pocklington School on Friday 1st June. This event aims to bridge the gap between district and county and is a handy tool for talent identification, as well as a way to challenge the girls against the best cricketers in the county.
Yorkshire U13 Diamonds: Holly Cooper (WK), Rosie Robinson (WK), Millie Singleton , Sophia Singh, Elicia Pollard, Gemma Walker (C), Niamh Hall, Katie Ramsden, Annie Brown, Maisie Husler, Ruby Hick.
Yorkshire U13 Crystals: Mollie Ovenden (WK), Ellie Nightingale (WK), Jess Thompson, Eva Jenkins, Poppy Moss, Frances Lonsdale (C), Liv Vollans, Rhia Sedha, Tamara Malafa, Isobel Fisher.
All the girls took part in a fielding session before the game, which was led by Joe Ashdown, Rob Johnson and Evie Woodhead. Frances Lonsdale (Captain of the Diamonds) and Gemma Walker (Captain of the Crystals) then tossed up. The Diamonds won the toss and elected to bat.
Some explosive batting from the Diamonds got the innings off to a good start, with Frances Lonsdale (70 off 64 balls) and Ellie Nightingale (35 off 33 Balls) putting on 73 for the first wicket. Jess Thompson then came to the crease and reached 58 off 44, before retiring. Poppy Moss retired on 37* before Mollie Ovenden finished the innings with 28*. Annie Brown picked up the only wicket and the Crystals forced two run outs as the Diamonds reached 277-4 from their 35 overs! The Crystals had some work to do. Niamh Hall scored 29 off 60 balls opening up for the Crystals, to go along with Gemma Walker's 19 and Holly Cooper's 14. Tamara Malafa (4 overs, 1-6) and Rhia Sedha (4 overs for 9 runs) opened the bowling for the Diamonds and made it hard to score. Ellie Nightingale and Poppy Moss picked up 2 wickets each as the Crystals finished on 108 all out after 25 overs.

Yorkshire U13 Girls vs Warwickshire U13 Girls, held at Anston Cricket Club on 3rd June.
Yorkshire U13 Girls then hosted Warwickshire U13 Girls at Anston Cricket Club for some more T20 Action!
In the first of the two games, Warwickshire set 78-8 off 20 overs (Holly Cooper 3-8). Yorkshire chased it down with a fantastic display of batting inside the powerplay. Yorkshire finished 79-0 off 6.2 overs, with Ellie Nightingale smashing 40 off 24 balls, including 7 fours & 1 six. Captain Frances Lonsdale also backed up Ellie with 23 off 17 balls, including 3 fours.

The second game gave Yorkshire U13 Girls a turn to set a score. They seized the chance with both hands, posting 193-3 off their 20 overs. Jess Thompson reached 50 in 38 balls, including 6 fours, whilst Gemma Walker batted superbly for her 40 off 30 balls (6 fours) as Poppy Moss (22*) and Sophia Singh (20*) also made positive contributions to a big score. In reply, Warwickshire ended on 76-6, as Sophia Singh picked up 2 wickets for 4 runs, and Poppy Moss claimed 2 wickets for 1 run.

Yorkshire Junior Cricket Festival, held at Snainton Cricket Club on 17th June.
Yorkshire U13 Girls then jumped to two Yorkshire Junior Cricket Festival (YJCF) T20 games with East Yorkshire U13 Boys & Scarborough U13 Boys at Snainton Cricket Club. This was a chance for the girls to test themselves against the representative boys side from across the county.
In the first game, East Yorkshire Boys won the toss and elected to bat. Ellie Nightingale, the Yorkshire wicket keeper, took a catch, a stumping and allowed no byes in the innings, but, Yorkshire's bowlers lacked control and the East Yorkshire boys were allowed to score freely as they raced to 135 off their 20 overs. However, there were wickets for Elicia Pollard, Eva Jenkins, Annie Brown and Gemma Walker. Yorkshire U13 Girls then set about a run chase. Sophia Singh (22*), Annie Brown (22*), Eva Jenkins (17) all batted positively, but the girls ultimately fell 25 short of the target.

In the second game of the day, Scarborough won the toss and elected to bat first. The Yorkshire bowlers were hit hard all around the ground. Gemma Walker picked up the only wicket as wicket keeper Mollie Ovenden took a good catch behind. Scarborough hit 19 fours and one six in their innings on the way to 159-1 - a great display of how to dominate the bowlers and how to put bad balls away. In reply, Ellie Nighingale started strong, with 14 off 14 balls, along with Sophia Singh's 11 off 10 balls and Frances Lonsdale's 18 off 18 balls. The Yorkshire Girls' side gave it a good go and played positively to reach 91-10 off 15 overs. It was a good test for the girls, who hope to take the positives from the two games, talk through some of the learning points and come back better cricketers.
