Match report.
Yorkshire U14 Development v Lincolnshire at Walton Park CC on Thursday 14th June 2018.
Yorkshire 252-7 (James Blackburn 77, Kieran Donnachie 66) beat Lincolnshire 163-4.
Yorkshire Under 14 Development entertained Lincolnshire for their first game of the season at the lovely, but rather blustery Walton Park CC, which was well and truly under siege from storm Hector yesterday.
Upon winning the toss, Yorkshire skipper Kshitij Kapote elected to bat first. Yorkshire got off to an excellent start as the openers waited on the bad balls and rotated the strike well. Both Blackburn (77) and Donnachie (66) batted superbly on their way to a 150 run stand for the first wicket, before Donnachie was dismissed. Blackburn continued on, batting with excellent control, as he saw his side past 200, accompanied well by Jack Brady (22) and Jack Oakley (13 - including a monster 6 from his very first ball in a county shirt!). The Yorkshire middle order batted selflessly as they tried to pile on the runs in the final overs, before Yorkshire finally finished up on 252-7.
In reply, it was slow going for Lincolnshire, who displayed a lot of grit and determination. With the high winds making for difficult bowling conditions, Yorkshire adapted well as they proved to be the better side with the ball and in the field. Lincolnshire began to fall well behind the rate as the innings drew on and they sought to see out the overs. Yorkshire bowlers James Blackburn (1-9), George Booth (1-28), Lewis Hogg (1-34) and Harry Dawson (1-37) picked up a wicket apiece as Yorkshire secured an 89 run win.
Thank you to Walton Park Cricket Club for hosting the game and of course to the umpires for officiating a good game of cricket.
