All cricket clubs have an obligation to appoint a Club Safeguarding Officer, irrespective as to whether or not they have a junior section at their club. These officers have a remit to provide advice on Safeguarding issues and to ensure that the club adheres to all aspects of Safeguarding. In order to be compliant your Club Safeguarding Officer must:
- Complete the online training ‘Safeguarding for Specialist Roles’ which includes the top up module of ‘Safeguarding for Committee Members and Club Safeguarding Officers’
- Have a valid ECB Enhanced DBS check in place.
- Attend a face to face ‘Safe Hands' course which is run by Yorkshire Cricket
These courses must be renewed every three years and we encourage Club Safeguarding Officers to sign up to the DBS Update Service.
The Safe Hands courses in Yorkshire are lead by the Yorkshire Cricket Safeguarding team and are delivered by our fully qualified Safe Hands instructors. The courses are run on evening at locations across the County, usually during the off-season.
